Rep. Matt Gaetz on Friday slammed President Joe Biden’s open borders immigration policies after revelations that a pair of foreign nationals were detained while trying to breach a Marine Corps base in Virginia.
According to the New York Post, Marine Corps MPs arrested two Jordanian nationals on May 3 after they tried to enter the front gate of Quantico Marine Corps Base, about 35 miles southwest of Washington D.C.
According to Potomac Local News, which first reported the arrests, the pair claimed to be subcontractors for Amazon making a delivery to a post office inside the base.

Yet military police became suspicious when the men did not have any approved access credentials for the base, nor did their vehicle, a box truck, have any affiliation with Quantico.
MPs directed them to a holding area until they could verify their story. But instead they tried to bypass the holding area and attempted to enter the base.
They were arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which is reportedly deporting them.
ICE confirmed they are “noncitizens” but did not address reports that at least one of them was on the terrorist watch list, the Post noted.
Gaetz responded on X on Friday, saying, “President Biden’s open border policies have turned our southern border into a revolving door for spies, terrorists, narcos and bandits.”

“These reckless decisions compromise our safety and national security,” he added.
“President Biden could stop this invasion any day by returning to the Trump policies. He chooses not to because he either doesn’t give a damn or can’t comprehend basic concepts.”
Former Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill, a frequent commentator on national security issues, told The Post that the attempted breach could have been a “dry run” for al-Qaeda or ISIS.

“It looks like it was a test run for something else like truck bombs because they tried to get in saying they were delivery drivers then sped up as the barricades popped up,” said O’Neill.
“The [Jordanians] are lucky they weren’t shot,” he added.
