Rep. Matt Gaetz said on Monday that the classified documents scandal surrounding President Joe Biden opens the door for Democrats to toss him off the 2024 ballot — something Gaetz said he predicted 13 months ago.
Gaetz was responding to Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report about Biden’s criminal activity in stashing the secret materials during an interview with Newsmax host Eric Bolling.
Hur summed Biden up as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” who, despite breaking federal law for years by wrongfully retaining the files, would be hard to convict because jurors would empathize with his mental frailty.

Bolling played a January 2023 video of Gaetz’s appearance on his show when he said the Deep State realized Biden would lose the election and that the documents fiasco was a way for establishment Democrats to “tidy up the Biden presidency and put a bow on it, and get ready for their next generation of leadership.”
Part of the evidence cited by the Fort Walton Beach Republican was just as the nation buzzes about Biden’s mental state, including a new poll showing 86% of Americans think he’s too old to last another term, he followed up last week’s disastrous post-Hur report press conference by having zero public events scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
“There’s literally more programming going on at the dementia wing of every assisted-living facility in Florida than there is at the White House right now,” said Gaetz.

“Joe Biden is obviously a man in decline, and I don’t believe we have to join him in that decline.”
Gaetz said the Deep State is “knifing” Biden right now but doesn’t seek an open process by dealing with primary contests; rather, operatives just want to “install” their choice at the party’s nominating convention in the summer, he added.
What may save Biden, Gaetz noted, is Vice President Kamala Harris.
“At the end of the day, isn’t it going to be pretty hard for them to jump over Kamala Harris?” he told Bolling. “I mean, she’s the vice president. Some believe that it’s actually her incompetence that functions as some sort of insurance policy for Biden.”
