Republican Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna accused Vice President Kamala Harris of “turning a blind eye” to the horrific conditions women and children face at the southern border, including rape, trafficking, and torture.
Luna’s criticism came during an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” where she argued that Harris, who has emphasized representing women, has failed to address the border crisis effectively.
Border patrol agents have warned migrants about the dangers of crossing into the U.S. illegally, with reports of migrants being beaten, tortured, extorted, and sexually assaulted, according to Border Report. Luna highlighted these issues, accusing Harris of betraying her promise to advocate for women.

“The fact is, Laura, and I say this as a woman who is also a minority, is that Kamala Harris ran on that. She said that she was there to represent all women. Yet, she actively turned a blind eye to the rape, trafficking and torture of Hispanic women and children at our southern border,” Luna said.
“So, what she’s done, especially as a woman, not only did she betray that opportunity that she had to really help us, but at the end of the day, I do believe that she is power hungry. I believe that she had a solution, if she really wanted to fix the problem she could have done it now. She is in a position to do it. Yet, she has no answers.”

Luna also expressed concerns about the administration’s handling of the immigration crisis, criticizing the use of sponsors for migrants. “Some sponsors aren’t acting with the right intentions, and we have no idea if they’re using stolen Social Security numbers,” she said. “We need to get illegal immigration in check, starting with automatic deportations the minute Trump takes office for those coming here unvetted and unchecked.”
Luna’s remarks come as Homeland Security Investigations agents, in cooperation with Mexican officials, recently located a house operated by a criminal organization near the U.S. border. The operation led to the rescue of 13 female migrants from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, who had been sexually assaulted, according to Border Report.
Since being tapped by President Biden to address the border crisis in 2021, Harris has faced criticism for her handling of the issue, earning the nickname “border czar.” While she previously called former President Donald Trump’s border wall “un-American” and a “stupid waste of money,” Harris’ recent campaign ads showcased the wall and touted her experience as a “border-state prosecutor.”

Harris, now the Democratic presidential nominee following President Biden’s decision not to seek reelection, has embraced her potential role as the first woman president. In a message shared on X after her nomination, she expressed her desire for every young girl in America to know that “you can do anything—even if it has never been done before.”
Despite this focus, Luna and other Republicans have continued to hold Harris accountable for the ongoing challenges at the southern border, especially concerning the safety of migrants.
