The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has released its latest red tide status report, indicating no presence of the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, in any samples collected statewide over the past week.
The absence of fish further supports this positive news kills suspected to be related to red tide and no reports of respiratory irritation associated with red tide in Florida during the same period.
While the current situation is encouraging, the FWC continues to monitor nearshore and offshore conditions using satellite imagery from USF and NOAA NCCOS. Forecasts for Pinellas County to northern Monroe County predict variable movement of surface and subsurface waters over the next few days.

The next comprehensive status report will be issued on Friday, August 16th. In the meantime, the public can access daily sampling maps and other information on the FWC Red Tide website and social media pages.
The FWC encourages the public to stay informed about red tide and other harmful algal blooms through its various resources and to report any fish kills or human health effects potentially related to red tide through the appropriate hotlines.
