The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reports that no red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was detected in any water samples collected statewide over the past week. Satellite imagery continues to be used to monitor both nearshore and offshore conditions.
No fish kills suspected to be linked to red tide were reported during the week. Additionally, there were no reports of respiratory irritation associated with red tide in Florida. Forecasts from the USF-FWC Collaboration for Prediction of Red Tides predict variable movement of surface and subsurface waters in the Pinellas to northern Monroe County region over the next few days.
