The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reports that no red tide blooms have been detected in water samples collected statewide over the past week. However, satellite imagery is being used to continuously track nearshore and offshore conditions.

No fish kills or respiratory irritation related to red tide were reported in Florida during the same period. For real-time information on specific beaches, the public is advised to check Mote Marine Laboratory’s Beach Conditions Reporting System and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Gulf of Mexico Harmful Algal Blooms Forecast.

Forecasts from the USF-FWC Collaboration for Prediction of Red Tides suggest a northwestern movement of surface waters and variable subsurface water transport for the Pinellas to northern Monroe County region in the next 3.5 days.

The FWC will release its next status report on Friday, September 6th.
