Florida Purple Alert Canceled For Missing Tampa Man, Located Safe

TAMPA, Fla. – Stephen Johnson, the 53-year-old Tampa man who was the subject of a Purple Alert issued on Friday, has been found safe and reunited with his family.

The Tampa Police Department located Johnson on Sunday evening and confirmed he is in good health. The Purple Alert, issued due to concerns for Johnson’s well-being, has been canceled.

The Tampa Police Department expressed gratitude to everyone who assisted in the search and expressed concern for Johnson’s safety.

53-year-old Stephen Johnson was last seen early this morning in the 300 block of Channelside Walk Way. His family is concerned for his well-being, prompting the issuance of a Purple Alert.

Johnson is described as a white male, approximately 5’11” tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with yellow stripes and brown shorts. He may be driving a silver 2016 Lexus 4-door sedan with Florida license plate NMNI82.

The Purple Alert is a Florida initiative designed to assist in the location of missing adults suffering from mental, cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities.
