Close to 80 crew members from seven Florida municipal utilities have been deployed to Louisiana to assist with power restoration efforts following Hurricane Francine’s landfall on Wednesday. The Category 2 storm brought heavy rains and powerful winds to the southern part of the state.
The Florida Municipal Electric Association reported that crews from Tallahassee, Gainesville, Jacksonville Beach, Ocala, Orlando, Fort Pierce, and New Smyrna Beach are on the ground in Louisiana to help restore power to affected areas.

As of 6 p.m. Eastern time, the National Hurricane Center confirmed that Francine made landfall with maximum sustained winds near 100 mph, and warned that heavy rain and hurricane-force winds were continuing to impact the region.
