The Southern United States is reeling from a devastating wave of tornadoes and severe storms that have left a trail of destruction and claimed at least 34 lives. Now, Florida is bracing for its turn as the dangerous weather system moves eastward.

Across the Mississippi Valley and Deep South, powerful tornadoes ripped through communities, leaving behind shattered homes and businesses. Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, and Alabama bore the brunt of the storm’s fury, with over 30 tornadoes reported across six states.

Louisiana saw trees downed and at least 30 homes damaged in East Fork, while Arkansas survey teams found damage consistent with 165 mph winds in Cave City.

Adding to the chaos, wildfires in Oklahoma have scorched over 170,000 acres and destroyed nearly 300 structures. In Mannford, heavy smoke and flames, fueled by strong winds, damaged at least two dozen homes.

As the storm system continues its eastward march, Georgia has already experienced flooding, downed trees, and power outages. Governor Brian Kemp has declared a state of emergency, effective until Tuesday.
