POLK COUNTY, Fla. – In a scene straight out of a Wild West movie (minus the horses and tumbleweeds), Polk County deputies responded to a disturbance on Tupelo Lane in Lake Wales Sunday evening.
It seems three women were on a simple mission to retrieve some personal belongings when their evening took a dramatic turn.
Picture this: they pull up to the gate, and suddenly, they’re blocked in by another vehicle driven by 25-year-old Dawson Watson. Words are exchanged, Watson heads inside, and out walks 43-year-old Billy Paul Ross.

Now, things get really interesting. Watson jumps over the gate and confronts one of the women, and a brawl ensues. Then, out of nowhere, gunshots ring out.
The women try to make a quick getaway, but Ross isn’t done yet. He approaches their car, tries to snatch a phone, and brandishes his firearm. More gunshots echo as the women speed away.
In the end, both Watson and Ross were arrested and taken to the Polk County Jail. Watson faces a battery charge, while Ross racked up a list of charges longer than a Clint Eastwood stare-down.

So, the moral of the story? Maybe next time, just ship those belongings. It’s safer than a trip down Tupelo Lane.
