Florida Medical Clinic has experienced a widespread outage that has knocked out phone lines, internet, and appointments.

If you tried to dial your Florida Medical Clinic doctor on Monday evening, you might have gotten through or, in most cases, not.

“Florida Medical Clinic is currently experiencing system and phone-related issues. We are working hard to resolve this and hope to have the systems restored tomorrow. We apologize for this inconvenience. Please check back on social media for further updates,” Florida Medical Clinic said on Monday.

Some phone systems came back online quickly Tuesday, but with an overwhelming amount of callers, the wait times were long.

“Florida Medical Clinic has restored phone services. We continue to work diligently to bring our systems to full capacity. We are open for business with some system limitations. Please continue to check this page for updates, as we anticipate increased phone volume and hold times. Our apologies for this inconvenience. We appreciate your patience and support,” said a statement on the Florida Medical Clinics’ website.

“All systems are down,” said a receptionist when we called on Tuesday. “You can try to call back tomorrow to set up an appointment. We don’t have access to files.”

Another receptionist, who tried, but was unsuccessful in directing The Free Press to a PR person, said, “Verizon is working on the issue and expect to be online Wednesday.”

On social media, patients are airing their frustrations, with one person saying, “Went to Wiregrass yesterday for an echo. Got there and was told about this problem. Had to drive home and was told to call for another appointment. Hope they get this working soon!”

“I was wondering why my appointment was canceled. Thanks for the info,” said another patient of FMC.

“I just called and got a recorded message that the phone system is down and I would need to call back tomorrow. Based on this post it should be working, has there been another outage? Or is there an alternate number we should be using,” commented a patient of the clinic.

“I called and was able to speak to someone. Still not able to fax rxs. Maybe by tomorrow I was told,” said another patient.

We have calls into the Florida Medical Clinic for answers to what exactly happened, but one employee did tell The Free Press that even the Patient Portal will not reflect up-to-date information because of the issues.

This is a developing story, and will update this as more details come in.
