A Florida man’s joyride in a stolen vehicle came to an abrupt end after he crashed the car and attempted a brief escape on foot.
Dillon Grimes, 32, DeFuniak Springs, was spotted driving a car reported stolen from Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, at a Love’s Travel Stop.

When deputies attempted a traffic stop, Grimes sped off, leading them on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when Grimes crashed the vehicle near East Larkspur and fled into the nearby woods.
A multi-agency response, including the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit, K-9 teams from Walton and Okaloosa Correctional, and the Florida Highway Patrol, quickly tracked down Grimes and took him into custody.

In addition to the charges related to the stolen vehicle and reckless driving, Grimes was also found to have outstanding warrants for manufacturing methamphetamine.
He was transported to the Walton County Jail, where he awaits further charges.
