A Florida man is in deep after robbing a bank and leading police on a three-county chase that ended in a standoff.
According to WPTV, the man, armed with a machete, walked into a TD Bank, located at 969 SE Fifth Ave., about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and demanded money from workers.
Police followed the man onto I-95, heading towards Boyton Beach, according to the outlet.
Authorities said the crook then traveled south through Broward County and into Miami-Dade County, where he led Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Miami-Dade police on a high-speed chase.
The man eventually pulled into the parking lot of a church where he was pinned in by both marked and unmarked law enforcement cruisers.
The suspect was seen on video throwing money from the driver’s side window in a church parking lot during a standoff that lasted for about ten minutes, according to WPTV.
The man opened his door and surrendered to authorities just after 12 p.m. His identity has not been released.
The PIO for Delray Beach Police Department said on Wednesday, that all records, affidavit, and bodycam footage from the incident, has been turned over to the FBI as they will handle the investigation movng forward.
