Known as the “@bluecollar_brawler” on social media, Dragich has gained a reputation for his fearlessness, strength, and extraordinary ability to handle dangerous situations.

Last year, he first achieved viral fame when he captured another alligator that was found near a Jacksonville elementary school.

The jaw-dropping encounter unfolded in a downtown Jacksonville neighborhood over the weekend. Dragich, without any tools or protective gear, confronted the 8-foot alligator that was causing a disturbance in the area. Astonishingly, he was barefoot at the time, adding an extra layer of danger to the already risky situation.

According to Dragich, the recent incident was one of his wildest catches yet. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the alligator charging towards a crowd of people and law enforcement. Dragich’s quick thinking and bravery prevented any harm from coming to bystanders.

What makes Dragich’s story even more captivating is the fact that he was attending a hockey game with his family when he received an urgent call from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The authorities alerted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) about the rogue alligator. Dragich, a licensed alligator trapper and an MMA fighter, was dispatched to handle the situation.

Dragich told FOX 35 News, “It was only five minutes from the game, so I literally left the game, caught the alligator, and then went back to the game.”

Tips to Safely Coexist with Alligators

Living in Florida means sharing the environment with a variety of wildlife, including alligators. While encounters like the one involving Mike Dragich are rare, it’s essential to understand how to safely coexist with these fascinating creatures. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  1. Maintain a Safe Distance: When encountering an alligator, ensure you are at least 50 feet away. Never attempt to approach or provoke them.
  2. Do Not Feed Alligators: Feeding alligators can lead to their association of humans with food, increasing the likelihood of dangerous encounters.
  3. Secure Waste and Food: Alligators are attracted to potential food sources. Properly secure trash cans and avoid leaving food unattended in outdoor areas.
  4. Keep Pets on a Leash: Alligators may perceive small animals as prey. Keep pets on a leash and away from bodies of water where alligators might be present.
  5. Be Cautious Around Water: Alligators are most active during dusk and dawn. Avoid swimming or engaging in water activities during these times.

Remember, respecting the natural habitats of alligators and following safety guidelines is crucial for the well-being of both humans and wildlife.
