A Florida man has been sentenced to federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl. He boasted about “dropping people” with the deadly drugs.
Terrance Maurice Washington, 42, of Marion County, received a 14-year sentence after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Court documents revealed that Washington engaged in multiple drug deals between October 2023 and January 2024, selling both methamphetamine and fentanyl to a confidential informant working with law enforcement. The quantities ranged from grams to over a pound of methamphetamine.

Disturbingly, Washington boasted that the fentanyl he sold was potent enough to cause overdoses, stating it was “dropping people.” A search of his residence following his arrest uncovered an additional two pounds of methamphetamine intended for distribution.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Marion County Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST) investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Janette Swartzberg prosecuted the case.
