Florida Man Sticks His Hand In A Jaguar Cage At The Zoo, Jaguar 1 – Florida Man 0

Now, what did you think would happen Florida man?

A Florida man in his 20’s, was hospitalized, Wednesday, after jumping over a barrier at the ‘Range of the Jaguar’ exhibit located inside of the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and then inserting his hand into the big cat’s enclosure.

According to NewsJax4, a jaguar then clawed the man’s arm, leaving behind a trail of blood and landing the man in the hospital.

“This is an individual that wasn’t using his head… He stuck his hand in through the mesh that separates the jaguars from the outside,” deputy zoo director Dan Maloney told the WJXT, adding that the incident “would have been a very different story” if the animal had been able to secure a stronger grip on the man.

Zoo officials told WJXT that the Jaguar was uninjured and they didn’t believe the man was trying to harm the cat.

The zoo was closed on Wednesday night while staff investigated how the man was able to jump over the barrier in the first place.

The man’s injuries are non-life-threatening and the zoo does not expect to press charges.
