Florida Man Runs From Deputies, 25 Feet Up A Tree With Some Loose Boots

You can run but you can’t hide…Wait, you can’t run in those boots, especially up a tree. But this Florida man did run and scaled up a tree around 25 feet. Read on.

William Schumpert Jr., a 40-year-old Crestview, Florida resident, was driving a minivan in the Auburn community when a deputy with Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, attempted to stop him for a traffic violation on Sunday.

Instead of stopping, Schumpert attempted to elude law enforcement by speeding and taking other “evasive actions”, according to deputies.

After several miles, Schumpert abandoned the vehicle and ran into the woods near Lancaster Circle and Frances Street in Crestview.

Crestview Police Department and OCSO K9 units were called in to track the man.

He was located approximately 25 feet up a tree and he surrendered after being confronted.

Schumpert faces numerous felony drug and traffic offenses and looked exhausted in his photo.
