A traffic stop on Christmas Day led to the arrest of two individuals on methamphetamine trafficking charges.

According to investigators, on December 25th, just before 6 p.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated a traffic stop near State RD. 77 and Williams Rd.

During the stop, deputies smelled the odor of narcotics coming from inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of more than 14 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

The driver, 30-year-old, Bryon William Smith of Esto, FL, was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was booked on the charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

A passenger in the vehicle, Madisen Marie Dowdy, 22 of Vanclave, MS, was also arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
