A 69-year old Florida man died Friday when his car started to hydroplane and crashed into an oncoming SUV.
Deputies say David Henderson, 69, of Wauchula was traveling northbound on US 17 Friday morning when his 2008 Honda Civic began to hydroplane.
Investigators say the car went across the grass median and into the southbound lanes, entering the path of a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander. Deputies say the front of the SUV struck the driver’s side door of the Honda.
Henderson died at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash.
The driver of the SUV and his three passengers were all transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.
