MARATHON, Fla. – A 39-year-old man living aboard a vessel in Marathon was arrested Saturday after a violent outburst at the City Marina. Dione Serrano allegedly attacked a woman, threatened bystanders with a knife, and was found to be carrying a concealed handgun.
The incident began when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that Serrano had struck a woman in the head at the marina. The woman escaped in a dinghy, but Serrano pursued her to the docks.

There, he encountered two bystanders and threatened to kill them and their families while brandishing a knife.
Serrano then resumed his pursuit of the woman, but deputies arrived on the scene and tased him before he could further harm her. Upon taking him into custody, deputies discovered a .380 handgun in Serrano’s waistband.

Serrano was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, battery, and resisting arrest. The injured woman was transported to Fishermen’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
