A Florida man is lucky to be alive after getting his car stuck on the train tracks on Saturday.

A Florida man is lucky to be alive after getting his car stuck on the train tracks Saturday night.

According to deputies, his vehicle was stuck in the gravel while crossing the railroad tracks at Highlands Drive and Old Dixie Highway in Indian River County.

Deputies say the passing train was unable to stop in time and struck the vehicle. The driver managed to get out in time and was not injured.

IRCSO is investigating the accident with FEC (Florida East Coast) Railway investigators.

The Highlands Drive train crossing was blocked for a number of hours.

“Please, obey the safety equipment at railroad grade crossings. They are there to keep you safe. And never ever try to “beat the train”, said IRCSO.
