According to court documents, on January 6, 2021, Bishop joined a crowd of rioters who had breached barriers on the west side of the Capitol and were attempting to overpower police officers. At around 2:02 p.m., Bishop used a chemical irritant spray on a line of police officers, targeting a Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer directly in the face and then spraying another MPD officer under their face shield.
Following the assault, Bishop entered the U.S. Capitol building at approximately 2:39 p.m. and walked through various rooms, including the Rotunda and Statuary Hall, before exiting the building around 2:56 p.m. The FBI arrested Bishop on August 8, 2023, in Florida.
