Talk about a lucky streak! John Schaafsma, 68, has defied the odds by claiming three winning tickets from the same Florida Lottery scratch-off game, 500X THE CASH.
Schaafsma’s incredible run started with a $1,000 win, followed by a life-changing $1 million prize in August, and then another $1,000 win in November. The winning ticket for the $1 million prize was purchased at K & M Drugs in Poinciana.

Schaafsma chose to receive his $1 million prize as a one-time lump-sum payment of $640,000. The retailer, K & M Drugs, also received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
The 500X THE CASH game offers a top prize of $25 million, the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off game. It also boasts the best odds to become an instant millionaire, with overall odds of winning at 1-in-4.23.
