A 67-year-old Florida man was taken into custody on Thursday after making threats against the lives of deputies and their families.
Walter Frank Camp was charged with DUI, grand theft of a motor vehicle, harassing a law enforcement K9, threatening an officer or officer’s family, possessing marijuana, disclosing information about an incident, and resisting arrest.
At around 5:36 p.m., a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a southbound Kia SUV speeding and passing illegally on U.S. 1 close to Mile Marker 32.

Camp was recognized as the only occupant and driver of the car.
There was an open beer can visible, there was a strong marijuana smell coming from the car, and Camp looked drunk. There were about 51 grams of edible marijuana discovered.
Deputies say the Kia was stolen from Blaine, Washington.
While being looked into for a possible DUI, Camp took off his shorts and revealed himself on the side of US 1.
Camp declared he was going to kill the arresting Deputies and their families and that he had access to weapons like a “sniper rifle.”
In addition, while in custody, the man harassed and howled at a K9.
