A registered sex offender has been arrested after attempting to purchase a child that he saw in a Winn Dixie store with her mom.
According to WESH, Hellmuth Kolb, 85, Port Orange, was locked up for violating probation stemming from a conviction of trying to buy an 8-year-old girl from her mother at a Walmart in 2018.
Kolb to the mother at Winn Dize how pretty her child was and offered to pay $100,000 for the child.

“Due to the parent’s clear concern that someone was insistent on attempting to purchase their daughter in a grocery store, we were notified,” said Port Orange Police.
“Unfortunately for him, we were able to confirm through his Probation Officer that Mr. Kolb is currently on probation for similar issues, and he is not to have any contact with minor children. Mr. Kolb should have simply stuck to just grocery shopping,” said Port Orange Police.
Kolb was previously convicted of false imprisonment and battery. His sentence, in that case, was 5 years probation.
