Yulee, Florida resident Garth Nathaniel Walton, 32, has been arrested and charged with felony offenses related to his alleged actions during the January 6th, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot. The charges include civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers, along with several misdemeanors.
The FBI arrested Walton on July 15, 2024, after an investigation that involved reviewing police body-worn camera footage from that day.
The footage allegedly shows Walton on the Capitol grounds, pushing a metal barricade into officers and throwing a white pole at them.

Walton’s actions are said to have contributed to the disruption of a joint session of Congress that was underway to certify the 2020 presidential election results. He now faces prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division.
The FBI’s Jacksonville and Washington Field Offices led the investigation, with assistance from the U.S. Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department.
Walton was initially identified as a person of interest through the FBI’s “Be on the Lookout” posters.
