Florida Man Arrested For Assaulting Law Enforcement During January 6th Capitol Riot

A Florida man has been arrested and charged with assaulting law enforcement officers during the January 6th, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Jeremy Michael Miller, 45, is accused of participating in the riot and attacking law enforcement officers.

Miller faces multiple charges, including felony offenses of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers and obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder. He also faces several misdemeanor charges related to his alleged actions at the Capitol.

Court documents allege that Miller was captured on video engaging in violent confrontations with police officers on the Capitol grounds. He is accused of:

  • Grabbing and attempting to pull away a bike rack barricade from police.
  • Linking arms with other rioters to push against barricades.
  • Throwing a pole at officers.
  • Pushing against a police riot shield and attempting to break through police lines.
  • Trying to wrest a riot shield away from an officer.

Miller was arrested on October 23, 2024, in Florida and made his initial court appearance in the Middle District of Florida. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case for the District of Columbia and the Department of Justice National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.

This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into the January 6th riot. To date, over 1,532 individuals have been charged with crimes related to the Capitol breach, including over 571 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
