A Lehigh Acres man who was previously arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material is back in custody after failing to appear in court.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Martin Jay Benjamin, 72, on December 3rd, 2024, on ten counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. However, Benjamin failed to appear for his court case and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

FDLE agents located Benjamin at his residence on February 23rd, 2025, and arrested him without incident. He was transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held without bond.

The initial investigation began in November 2024 after agents discovered an online user offering to share child sexual exploitation files.

The investigation led to Benjamin’s residence, where a search warrant was executed. Agents seized electronic devices and a forensic analysis revealed multiple files depicting the sexual abuse of children.
