Florida Man Arrested After Beating Elderly Landlord In Beach Shopping Center

A Florida man was arrested after a dispute with his landlord turned violent in a beach shopping center.

According to deputies, on Monday, January 3, 2022, deputies responded to the Key Estero Shops on Fort Myers Beach in reference to a disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim who was just attacked by his tenant, Stephen James Austin, 39, in the parking lot.

The victim tried meeting Austin to collect money for property damage found at one of his units, but an altercation ensued and escalated.

According to deputies, Austin punched the victim’s face and slammed the victim’s car door on his leg.

“Thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt,” said Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

“Physical violence is not legal tender and will not be tolerated under any circumstance. This “criminal currency” guaranteed Austin a cell at the Lee County Jail,” said LCSO in a social post.

Austin was charged with Burglary with a Battery and Battery on a person Over 65.
