A Florida man is facing felony robbery charges after attempting to withdraw a single penny from a bank.
The incident occurred last Saturday afternoon at a Chase Bank on US-441 in Lady Lake.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Michael Fleming entered the bank and presented a withdrawal slip requesting one cent.
The teller informed Fleming that such a small amount couldn’t be processed.

The arrest affidavit alleges Fleming became agitated and allegedly made an indirect threat, leaving the teller fearing for their safety.
Law enforcement was called, and Fleming was apprehended without incident.
Following his arrest, Fleming spoke with detectives, though details of the conversation were redacted from the report.

Despite the seemingly minor nature of the attempted withdrawal, authorities determined probable cause for a felony robbery charge.
Fleming was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center and remains jailed on a $5,000 bond.
