A 38-year-old Florida man was arrested early Monday for attacking and injuring another man with a plate.
According to investigators, Eric Daniel Torres was charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on Rose Place at approximately 10:22 p.m. Sunday regarding a battery.

Deputies say the 62-year-old male victim stated the suspect, identified as Torres, hit him on the head with a plate. The victim was taken to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Torres was subsequently stopped near Mile Marker 102 on U.S. 1. He spit on Deputies and cursed them as well as tensed his body and pulled away as they attempted to place him into custody.
He was booked into the Monroe County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
