BRADENTON Fla. – On February 11, 2021, at 8:01 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a road rage incident involving a black Volkswagen Jetta, driving south on Interstate 75 in Manatee County.
FHP Troopers were advised the driver was honking the horn and steering close to another vehicle so a passenger in the Volkswagen could throw a bottle and swing a baseball bat outside the window.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop on southbound Interstate 75 at mile marker 226.
Investigators say that Troopers located the baseball bat in the vehicle, along with a misdemeanor amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.
At the conclusion of the investigation, troopers placed the Volkswagen driver, Carlos Cruz, 25, of Jacksonville under arrest for aggravated assault, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to register a motor vehicle.
The Volkswagen passenger Alecia Kirby, 21, of Kentucky, was placed under arrest for aggravated assault, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were booked into the Manatee County Jail.
