A 46-year-old Tampa woman was killed overnight after being hit by a car crossing West Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 2000 Acura Integra, was traveling eastbound on West Hillsborough Ave. at a high rate of speed approaching Sawyer Road.
The Tampa woman was walking southbound across the roadway and entered the path of the speeding car, which collided with the woman.
Troopers say that following the crash, the driver fled the scene with the remains of the victim still on the car, then stopped near Yosemite Drive and San Pablo Place where the driver disposed of the remains.
Hillsborough Deputies soon located the driver at Monte Vista Place and Alvarado Drive where he was detained and later arrested by FHP Troopers for and Leaving the Scene of the Crash Involving Death.
18-year-old Jesus Manuel Diaz, the driver, was later delivered to the Hillsborough County Jail.
