A Florida man is a millionaire thanks to a lucky scratch-off ticket. Charles Larocco, 67, of Tamarac, claimed a $1 million top prize from the Florida Lottery’s MILLIONAIRE MAKER Scratch-Off game.
Larocco purchased the winning $5 ticket at Oakland Shell in Sunrise and chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $640,000. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The MILLIONAIRE MAKER game launched in May and offers players the chance to win up to 14 times on a single ticket. With odds of 1-in-3.87, the game features over 5.7 million winning tickets, including six top prizes of $1 million.
Scratch-off games make up a significant portion of the Florida Lottery’s revenue, accounting for approximately 74% of ticket sales.

Since their inception, these games have awarded over $64.3 billion in prizes, created more than 2,230 millionaires, and generated more than $19.5 billion for Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
