Florida saw little change in the number of first-time unemployment claims last week.
On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Labor released a report that estimated 5,277 jobless claims were filed in Florida during the week that ended March 30, 23 more than during the week that ended March 23.
The state had a 3.1 percent unemployment rate in February, unchanged from the previous month. The Florida Department of Commerce will release a March rate on April 19.
Since the start of the year, Florida has averaged 5,835 first-time claims a week.
The Department of Labor estimated that 221,000 claims were filed nationally last week, an increase of 9,000 from revised numbers for the week that ended March 23. The national unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in February.
