The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) announced on Friday that the state has allocated over $5.6 million to protect two significant agricultural properties.

The funding, provided through the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program, will be used to purchase conservation easements on the properties. This will prevent future development and ensure their continued use for agricultural purposes.

Citrus County Ranch:

  • Location: Citrus County, adjacent to the Withlacoochee State Trail
  • Acreage: 802 acres
  • Purchase Price: $3.392 million

By protecting these lands, the state aims to preserve agricultural heritage, safeguard water quality, and enhance wildlife habitat.
