The aftermath of Hurricane Debby continues to impact Florida residents, with insurance claims steadily rising. As of Friday, the state Office of Insurance Regulation reported a total of 11,972 claims filed, with estimated insured losses reaching $89.5 million.
This represents a significant increase from Thursday’s figures, which stood at 8,856 claims and $66.7 million in estimated losses. The majority of the claims, 7,325, are for damage to residential property, while the rest include claims for auto damage and other losses.

Hurricane Debby made landfall in Taylor County on Monday as a Category 1 hurricane, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the region.
While it weakened to a tropical storm as it moved across North Florida and into Georgia, the storm left a trail of destruction in its wake.
Insurance officials anticipate that the number of claims and the total estimated losses will continue to climb in the coming days and weeks as residents assess the full extent of the damage to their homes and property.

The state is urging those affected by the storm to contact their insurance companies as soon as possible to begin the claims process.
