Florida House races continue to take shape, with five more candidates filing paperwork this week to run in the 2024 elections, according to the state Division of Elections website.
The filings included candidates seeking to replace Rep. Christopher Benjamin, D-Miami Gardens, and Rep. Alina Garcia, R-Miami, both of whom are running for other offices instead of seeking re-election to the House.
Miami Gardens Democrat Loreal Arscott opened a campaign account to try to succeed Benjamin in Miami-Dade County’s House District 107.

Arscott joined six other Democrats in the race. Meanwhile, Miami Republican Moises Benhabib opened an account to become the third Republican seeking to replace Garcia in Miami-Dade’s House District 115, according to the Division of Elections.
Also this week, Rep. Brad Yeager, R-New Port Richey, Rep. Adam Anderson, R-Palm Harbor, and Rep. Ashley Gantt, D-Miami, drew opponents.
Hudson Democrat Doris Carroll opened an account to try to unseat Yeager in Pasco County’s House District 56.

In Pinellas County’s House District 57, Bob Larrivee, an unaffiliated candidate from Palm Harbor, opened an account to run against Anderson.
And in Miami-Dade’s House District 109, Miami Democrat James Drew Bush became the second Democratic candidate trying to unseat Gantt.
