POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was killed early Tuesday morning in a crash that happened on I-4 near milepost 26.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on I-4 near Milepost 26 in the outside lane, when the driver, a 41-year-old Orlando man, fell asleep and lost control of the car.
Troopers say the car entered the center lane and collided with the right rear of a pickup truck.
Investigators say the pickup truck came to a controlled stop while the car rotated to the south shoulder and collided with a concrete embankment before coming to stop along the shoulder of the roadway.
Troopers say the passenger in the car suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. At the time of this report, troopers have not released the woman’s age or any identifying information.
