PASCO COUNTY, FL. – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are seeking the public’s help after a crash ended with an assault on a 45-year-old Port Richey man in the middle of the roadway.
According to troopers, a car, described only as a red sedan, was traveling eastbound in the center lane of SR-54, approaching the intersection of Hospital Boulevard.
A 45-year-old Port Richey man driving a 2007 Chrysler 300, was traveling eastbound directly ahead of the red sedan.
Troopers say the red sedan accelerated and passed the Chrysler in the left lane, then changed back to the center lane directly ahead of Chrysler.
Investigators say the red sedan then stopped abruptly and was struck from behind by the Port Richey man.
Following the minor collision, the driver of the red sedan, along with his two male passengers, exited the car and proceeded to attack the Port Richey man by punching and kicking the victim in the middle of the highway.
The trio then fled the crash scene, all described as black males with black T-shirts and short-length hair.
