HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A wrong-way driver was arrested for DUI early this morning after being found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle on Interstate 75 near the Hillsborough, Pasco County line.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), troopers received a report around 3:00 a.m. of a Chevy SUV traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75, south of SR-56. Troopers responded to the area and located the vehicle stopped in the median just north of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Alex Jose Nunez of North Miami, was found passed out in the driver’s seat.

Troopers were able to wake Nunez and subsequently arrested him for DUI. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where his blood alcohol content (BAC) was found to be 0.190, more than twice the legal limit.
