Florida Highway Patrol Advises 12-Foot Gator On Alligator Alley

The 80 mile stretch of I-75 that crosses the state from Naples going into Ft. Lauderdale is known as Alligator Alley. On Monday, a 12-foot gator made the namesake literal, so to speak.

FHP troopers were busy around 4 p.m. on Monday trying to keep a 12-foot alligator off its namesake highway, the Alligator Alley.

An FHP travel advisory shortly cautioned northbound interstate travelers to have caution around Mile Marker 78 on I-75 in Collier County.

“Troopers are trying to keep this 12-foot from the Interstate 75 travel lanes @ mile marker 78 in Collier County on Alley! Please drive cautious,” an FHP Tweet alerted.
