Florida Highway Patrol: 5 Dead In Crash On SR-674 Near Balm Wimauma Road

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla – Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene of a crash that claimed the lives of five people early Sunday in Wimauma.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, around 7:00 a.m. a Toyota Tacoma, was traveling westbound on SR-674 while a Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound on the same road. 

Troopers say for an unknown reason, the Toyota entered the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with the Chevy Silverado.

In an attempt to avoid a collision, a third pickup truck steered left, rotated and entered a ditch after debris from the first impact struck the pickup.

This crash involved five fatalities, said Troopers.

  • Driver of Toyota Tacoma, male, 29, Bowling Green, FL – fatal injury
  • Passenger in Toyota Tacoma, female, 37, Bowling Green, FL – fatal injury
  • Passenger in Toyota Tacoma, male, 38, Bowling Green, FL – fatal injury
  • Passenger in Toyota Tacoma, male, 23, Bowling Green, FL – fatal injury
  • Driver Of Chevy Silverado, male, 42, Wimauma, FL – fatal injury
  • Passenger in Chevy Silverado, male, 43, Wimauma, FL – no injury
  • Passenger in Chevy Silverado, male, 40, Wimauma, FL – serious injury
  • Driver Chevy S-10 male, 59, Mulberry, FL – no injury

Both directions of SR-674 were closed but reopened around 2:00 pm.

This crash involves five fatalities.  Both directions of SR-674 are closed at this time.  Motorists should seek alternate travel routes.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
