The state university system’s Board of Governors on Thursday confirmed Aysegul Timur as Florida Gulf Coast University’s fifth president, making Timur the first woman to lead the school.
Timur has served as vice president and vice provost for strategy and program innovation for the university, and has been at FGCU since 2019.
She was selected by the FGCU Board of Trustees in May to succeed retiring President Mike Martin. The Board of Governors signed off on a three-year contract for Timur to lead the school that will include a $500,000 base salary.
