Fishing Florida

The Florida Gulf Coast boasts excellent fishing conditions today, and reports indicate that the harmful red tide organism Karenia brevis is nowhere to be found.

Inshore:

  • Action: Reports indicate good fishing for a variety of species inshore.
  • Species: Look for trout, redfish, snook, mackerel, and even the occasional tarpon in some areas.
  • Areas: Bradenton, Anna Maria Island, Sarasota Bay, and Tampa Bay are all reported to be producing catches.

Offshore:

  • Species: Pelagic fish like blackfin tuna, kingfish, wahoo, and sailfish are running well offshore in areas with moderate water temperatures. Cobia are also being caught across various depths, from deepwater wrecks to nearshore and inshore waters.
  • Conditions: The Loop Current’s location can be a good indicator for finding billfish like sailfish.

Additional Tips:

  • Look for areas with clear water and structure like mangroves, oyster beds, and artificial reefs.
  • Adjust your bait and lure selection based on the targeted species and water conditions.
  • Be aware of fishing regulations and licensing requirements.

Have a great time fishing the beautiful Florida Gulf Coast!
