Anglers along the Florida Gulf Coast are enjoying a variety of catches in the warm summer waters. Winds have been moderate, and sea conditions are favorable for both inshore and offshore fishing.
Inshore:
- Tampa Bay: Redfish are active around the flats and mangrove islands, hitting cut bait and live shrimp. Snook are lurking around bridges and structure, taking jigs and topwater lures.
- Sarasota Bay: Trout action has picked up, especially early mornings and late afternoons with live shrimp under a popping cork. Spanish mackerel are schooling near the passes, chasing flashy spoons.
- Charlotte Harbor: Mangrove snapper are plentiful around the oyster bars and docks. Sheepshead are being caught on fiddler crabs around pilings and seawalls.

- Artificial Reefs: Cobia are being spotted around the artificial reefs, taking live eels and large jigs. Permit are also being caught on small crabs.
