Florida Grandfather Fatally Shot By Neighbor In Thanksgiving Day Dispute Over Loud Music

A Thanksgiving celebration turned tragic in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, when a 71-year-old grandfather was fatally shot by his neighbor in an alleged dispute over loud music.

Hureleyon McLean was celebrating the holiday with family and friends when his downstairs neighbor complained about the noise level. According to McLean’s wife, Rose, her husband went downstairs to speak with the neighbor, and she then heard a gunshot.

Rose McLean told local news outlets that she confronted the neighbor, who was still holding the gun. “Why did you shoot my husband?” she asked. The neighbor allegedly threatened to shoot her as well if she didn’t remain silent.

Self-Defense Claim

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found McLean with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The neighbor, who has not been identified, was detained and cooperated with investigators. He claimed he shot McLean in self-defense.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are actively investigating the incident. The case will be presented to the State Attorney’s Office to determine if criminal charges will be filed.
