Florida Governor Ron DeSantis To Give Update On Hurricane Ian

“All this will take effect at two o’clock today. We do not make this decision easily. This storm poses a serious threat and we must do everything we can to protect our residents I can’t stress this enough, evacuation shelters are a last resort. They are not comfortable places. They could be crowded and they could be noisy and you could be in a shelter for days,” said Wise.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will hold a press conference in Tallahassee this morning.

On Wednesday, DeSantis said he is asking the federal government for a major disaster declaration in all 67 counties, as massive Hurricane Ian pounded the Gulf Coast and moved across the state.

The state will seek 100 percent reimbursement from the federal government for storm-recovery costs over the next 60 days, DeSantis said during a briefing at the state Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee.

DeSantis is scheduled to speak at 8:45 am, but these briefings can run slightly late: You can view it in the player below.
