Emphasizing that school-board elections have a “significant impact” on families, Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday focused heavily on his support for candidates who align with his education agenda as he helped kick off an event held by the conservative group Moms for Liberty.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Committee Raises Another $1.2M

Entering the final stretch of the 2022 campaign, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political committee raised nearly $1.2 million on Monday and Tuesday, according to finance reports posted on the state Division of Elections website.

The Friends of Ron DeSantis committee collected about $1.184 million over the two days and had almost $87 million in cash on hand.

The reports showed eight contributions of $50,000 or more posted during the two days. They included $200,000 from a phosphate industry political committee; $150,000 from R&L Transfer Inc., an Ocala transportation company; and $100,000 from Dosal Tobacco Corp., the reports show.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist’s political committee, Friends of Charlie Crist, raised about $73,000 on Monday and Tuesday and had about $1.843 million on hand.

It received $50,000 from a Florida Education Association political committee, according to the reports.
