Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Thursday the appointment of two new judges to the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court. Amanda Levy-Reis of Bonita Springs and James Stewart of Naples will fill judicial vacancies created by recent resignations, bringing a wealth of legal experience to their new roles.

Amanda Levy-Reis: A Commitment to Public Service
Amanda Levy-Reis has been appointed to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Judge Joseph Fuller. Levy-Reis, a Bonita Springs resident, currently serves as a Staff Attorney for Florida Rural Legal Services, a position she has held since 2023. Her career also includes a prestigious role as a Law Clerk for the U.S. District Court, where she honed her legal expertise.

A proud alumna of Stetson University, Levy-Reis earned both her bachelor’s degree and juris doctor from the institution. Her background in public service and her dedication to the legal profession make her a strong addition to the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court.

James Stewart: A Veteran Prosecutor
James Stewart, a Naples resident, has been appointed to fill the judicial vacancy created by the resignation of Judge James Sloan. Stewart brings over 15 years of prosecutorial experience to the bench.

Since 2022, he has served as the Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit, a role that followed his tenure as an Assistant State Attorney in the same circuit, which began in 2007.

Stewart earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his juris doctor from Northeastern University. His extensive experience in the State Attorney’s Office and his deep understanding of the judicial system position him as a highly qualified candidate for the judgeship.
